As in Einstein's relativistic theories, in cubism the volume of the observed objects become compressed and bidimensional, and the notion of absolute space-time is ignored. This "simultaneity" implicitly included the use of time as a fourth dimension in cubist paintings. The characteristic void space of the perspectivistic figurative painting, became substituted by a solid space where vertical, horizontal dimensions and depth were represented in an instant. Thus, Picasso discovered or invented cubism. Numerous art historians and painters have studied cubism for nearly 100 years and have never seen what has long seemed very obvious to Arne Glimcher. In this paintings and especially in Les Démoiselles d'Avignon, the triangles and circles become plastic materials but they do not form perfect euclidean tridimensional spaces where objects must keep constant sizes and proportions. Arne Glimcher and Bernice Rose invented and curated this very innovative exhibition that illustrates the influences of early motion picture film on minds of Picasso and Braque.

Was Cubism just paintings No Cubism definitely included sculpture too. The Muse Inspiring the Poet, second version, by Henri Rousseau, 1909, via Tate Museum, London with Photograph of Guillaume Apollinaire. He coined the terms Cubism, Orphism, and Surrealism and was friends with avant-garde painters, including Pablo Picasso and Jean Metzinger. He apparently saw some paintings by Georges Braque and described them as being made up of 'little cubes' An art critic overheard him and invented the term 'cubism'. Guillaume Apollinaire was a French poet, playwright, and art critic. Picasso, mentally travelling around the objects, indicated a process of visual disconnection of their naturals forms which ended in the recovery of the beautiful lines of euclidean geometry. Although abstract art had been invented outside of Cubism (by Wassily Kandinsky, a Russian), the movement’s influence on the development of abstract art was profound. Pablo Picasso, also known as Pablo Ruiz y Picasso, was singular in the art world. In fact, it was the artist Henri Matisse. He not only invented Cubism, he also invented the collage.
